About the Manufacturer

The history of Fazi Battaglia began in 1949 with a small winery in the Marche region, producing a single Verdicchio wine that is now known worldwide. This became possible thanks to the enterprise and courage of Francesco Angelini, who bought the winery from Fernando Fazi and Vittorio Battaglia. He believed so much in his abilities that the potential he laid down for further development still drives the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Francesco forward. In 1953, a competition was announced for the best bottle design for white wine. The winner was architect Antonio Maiocchi, who developed the original "amphora" bottle design, replicating the shape of ancient Etruscan wine vessels. The label sketch was created by renowned master Bruno da Osimo. The first wine to be bottled in such a bottle was "Titulus", making it recognizable worldwide. The increased demand for Fazi Battaglia's products raised the question of the need to expand production capacity, so in 1956 the company moved to a new location in Castelplanio (Ancona province) and acquired new vineyards in the Classica dei Castelli di Jesi area, which now covers 300 hectares. Since 1969, Fazi Battaglia has also owned vineyards in the Chianti area. The main principle adhered to by the management is that without quality grapes, it is impossible to create excellent wine. Therefore, while expanding their holdings, the company strives to maintain ecological cleanliness in grape cultivation and careful treatment of the vine. For this, in early 2014, the Fazi Battaglia winery was awarded by "Vini Buoni D'Italia". Since 2001, the company has begun to unite Tuscan producers whose wines are of high quality into its own group FB Trading. The company is led by Francesco Angelini's granddaughter, Maria Luisa Sparaco, and her three children. Fazi Battaglia owes its rapid and continuous development to the wise combination of long-standing traditions and the latest technologies, as well as an understanding of the significance of nature's role.
