Interesting facts
Tenuta Guado al Tasso is an estate with vineyards covering 80 hectares, inherited by the Antinori family in the 1930s. The name of the estate translates to 'timid badgers' in honor of the animals that inhabit the streams around the estate. The Guado al Tasso vineyards are advantageously located — surrounded by hills, just 5 km from the sea. The favorable Mediterranean climate — hot summers and a constant fresh breeze — greatly contributes to the ripening of the grapes, resulting in the excellent quality of Tenuta Guado al Tasso wines. The wine has been produced since 1990. The blend composition varies depending on the vintage and quality of the harvest. The grapes are hand-harvested and placed in small boxes. The berries undergo careful selection both in the vineyards and after destemming. One of the important aspects of creating a wine with impeccable, elegant, and fresh fruity taste is the separate fermentation and maceration of each variety in steel tanks at moderate temperatures for 15-20 days. The must is then transferred to barriques, where malolactic fermentation occurs. In February of the following year, the best batches of wine are blended, and the final blend is aged in new French oak barrels. The bottling of the 2017 vintage took place in July 2019.
About the Manufacturer
The Antinori family has a history dating back to 1385, and today it is managed by the 26th generation representative — Marquis Piero Antinori. Much of the Italian wines' entry into the ranks of the best examples of world winemaking is due to his talent as a winemaker and relentless pursuit of perfection, making the Antinori name a symbol of innovation and quality. Today, Antinori owns several wineries in various regions of Italy, as well as vineyards in Chile, California, and Hungary. At the same time, the company strives to preserve the uniqueness of the wines characteristic of each locality, with quality and Italian elegance being their main characteristics. Many Antinori wines, thanks to their innovative approach and virtuoso blends, have literally revolutionized the wine market and rival the best Bordeaux examples, while being favorably distinguished from the latter by their cost. World-renowned wine expert Robert Parker stated that: Antinori is undoubtedly the greatest name in Italian winemaking. During tastings of Antinori wines, the main thing is to instill an understanding of wine quality.
