Interesting facts
Raul Perez "La Vitoriana" includes vines that were replanted in 2014/2015 with Bastardo (Merenzao or Trousseau) varieties, resulting in a more aromatic, ethereal, elegant, and truly impressive wine. It possesses impressive depth and expressiveness; it is wild yet refined, explosive and more Burgundian than any of the wines from La Vizcaína. This wine has character, strength, energy, and freshness.
About the Manufacturer
Raul Perez's intuitive winemaking and his outstanding results have earned him recognition from global publications as the best winemaker in the world. He began receiving accolades as soon as he started making wine. At the age of 22, in 1994, he produced his first vintage for his family's winery in the northwestern Spanish region of Bierzo. He was quickly dubbed a leader of the renegade wine movement known as New Spain. In 2005, he left the family business to pursue his own venture. He created Bodegas y Viñedos Raúl Pérez, which became a benchmark for the Bierzo appellation. Since then, he has expanded his winemaking activities to include the Rias Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, and Tierra de León appellations. But Raul's heart and home have always been in Valtuille de Abajo, a village in Bierzo where his family has been growing vines for over 300 years.
