Interesting facts
"Martinet Bru" is a voluminous, open, fresh red wine created from five grape varieties grown on a farm called "Mas Torrent". The vineyards border the Monsant region, where a similar climate is maintained, but the characteristic soils of Priorat prevail — "licorella", consisting of tiny pieces of slate. This soil gives the wines remarkable freshness and a unique mineral character. The humid sea breeze cools the vines on the hottest summer days, aiding in slower and longer maturation. The year 2022 was warm and dry, so during the vinification of "Martinet Bru", carbonic maceration was abandoned. Whole clusters were foot-trodden in concrete tanks. The wine was also aged in concrete containers and only 3 months in previously used barrels. Thus, the 2022 vintage possesses freshness and lightness, but also maturity. It is recommended to decant the wine an hour before consumption. The wine has a storage potential of at least 5 years.
About the Manufacturer
The small winery Mas Martinet was founded by José Luis Pérez — a pioneer of Priorat alongside Álvaro Palacios, René Barbier, and Carles Pastrana, who created their first wine together in 1989. The vineyards, covering a total area of 7 hectares, are located around the winery on the banks of the Siurana River, between the villages of Gratallops and Falset. The remaining 3 hectares of the estate's vineyards are scattered around the Priorat DOQ area, including old vineyards near the town of Porrera, planted with Carignan and Grenache varieties, and a new plot located high above Gratallops. Today, the main figure of the winery is Sara Pérez, the daughter of José Luis Pérez, who is considered one of the best enologists in Spain. All wines from the estate are organic.
