About the Manufacturer
The winery "Valduero" is one of the first in the Ribera del Duero region. It was created by Gregorio Garcia Alvarez in the small village of Gumiel de Mercado, in the province of Burgos, right in the center of Ribera del Duero. At that time, there were only about half a dozen wineries in the region, which, despite the long-standing winemaking traditions of the region and the high reputation of local wines among connoisseurs, were largely unknown to the general public. Today, the winery is run by Yolanda Garcia Viadero, the daughter of the founder. An agronomist by education, she places great importance on cultivating the Tinto Fino grape, describing it as "exceptional and unique in Spain, with a strong sense of terroir in its character, which is expressed in the structure and acidity of the wines that are on par with the best wines in the world". Yolanda is also convinced that great grapes need time and care in their development to show their best sides, and the wines must be excellent in every respect to provide pleasure to the consumer. That is why Valduero wines are stored and aged at the winery until they achieve great harmony and balance, which always depends on the strength of the drinks. For this reason, Valduero focuses on producing Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wines. The aging of the wines takes place in an ancient cellar from the 17th century, with a depth of up to 40 meters.
