Interesting facts
The name "Artillero" comes from the former owner of the vineyard, who was an artilleryman during the civil war, which became his nickname in the town. Oxer, in gratitude for the great care he took of the 99-year-old vineyard, decided to name his wine after this person. It is the perfect expression of Tempranillo from old vines in Rioja Alavesa: powerful and elegant. The 1-hectare vineyard was planted in 1919 in the town of Elvillar (Rioja Alavesa) at an altitude of 600 meters, on clay-carbonate soil. The old-fashioned mixed planting of Tempranillo, Viura, and Garnacha Blanca yields 3000 kg per hectare. Malolactic fermentation takes place in used barrels, followed by aging for 13 months.
