Interesting facts
TRES is an abbreviation of the Italian word tre (three): three values symbolized by three cypress trees and the best of three grape varieties combined in one wine. At the same time, the name TRES is inspired by Tresner Horn or Tres Horn, the highest point of the mountain range above Kurtatsch. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on red sandy and gravelly dolomite soils in the Brenntal area, and these three grape varieties come together to form a unique alpine-Mediterranean cuvée. Fermentation occurs in oak vats, aging in French barriques for 15 months, followed by 9 months in large oak barrels, and then 4.5 years of bottle aging.
About the Manufacturer
The Kurtatsch winery is located in the southern part of South Tyrol. The area is characterized by a unique microclimate. Summer temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius are not uncommon, with warm autumn days alternating with cold nights. This allows producers to bring grape ripening to the "Hang Time" point, where optimal ripeness coincides with excellent acidity levels. From such grapes, rich, intensely fruity, full-bodied red wines and elegant, floral, aromatic white wines are produced. The estate's vineyards are located on slopes and hills at altitudes ranging from 200 to 900 meters above sea level and are considered unique. Kurtatsch wines are distinguished by their exclusivity, which is inextricably linked to their origin and cannot be reproduced elsewhere. Most of the world's best wines are made from grapes grown in limestone soils. On the slope of the mountain where the Kurtatsch vineyards grow, the soils have excellent drainage, predominantly limestone, sometimes mixed with clay. Winemakers use the most modern technologies: refrigeration equipment, stainless steel tanks with fermentation temperature control sensors, new oak barrels for aging. Only perfectly healthy grapes are used in the production of wines. Before bottling, the wines are carefully evaluated by tasting experts. Due to the excellent quality, Kurtatsch wines have become popular among wine lovers far beyond the country's borders.
