Interesting facts
The wine "Testamatta" (translated from Italian as "crazy head") is produced in a quantity of 15,000 bottles per year. In 2020, the grapes of the Sangiovese variety were carefully selected for its production, harvested in October from vines aged 35 to 70 years. The vineyard, covering 8 hectares, has a southern exposure, medium-density clay and marl soils, and is located at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The harvested berries are not pressed. Fermentation occurs in oak barrels at a temperature not exceeding 29 degrees, and the wine is aged for up to 24 months in French oak barrels, 10 percent of which are completely new. After bottling, the drink spends another six months in bottles in the wine cellar. "Testamatta" has magnificent organoleptic characteristics and has been awarded high ratings by international experts for many years, many of whom consider "Testamatta" to be the best example among "Super Tuscan" wines.
About the Manufacturer
Growing up in a creative family of artists, and being an artist himself with a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts, Bibi Graetz became seriously interested in winemaking from a young age. Over time, this passion completely captivated the young man, and he decided to pursue winemaking professionally. Graetz owns 4 hectares of vineyards and rents another 10. Working the land, he is constantly in search of old grape plantings and creating new ones to produce the best wines. Bibi Graetz's activities are difficult to call classical winemaking; rather, it is creativity, where he relies more on his intuition and feelings than on rules. All his wines, except for the white "Casamata", are created from indigenous Tuscan grape varieties. In the name of his favorite wine "Testamatta", which translates as "crazy head", the former artist reflected his unrestrained and expressive character, helping to reveal the vast creative potential of the talented enologist. Currently, the wines produced in the town of Fiesole (where Graetz's winery is located) have received high ratings from international critics such as Robert Parker and Wine Spectator and are among the best Italian wines available on the global market.
