Interesting facts
Champagne Collard-Picard, "Perpetuelle" 12 Annees Extra Brut is a unique and exquisite Champagne embodying the best traditions of French winemaking. Its aroma of fruit and pastry transports you to Champagne, where the finest grapes have been grown for centuries and the air is filled with the nuances of flowering vines and ancient wineries. The "Perpétuelle 12 années" cuvée is a blend of 12 different vintages (70% reserve wines from 2008 to 2018 and 30% from 2019). Alcoholic fermentation takes place in large wooden barrels, malolactic fermentation is absent, followed by 12 months of aging in oak barrels and 4 years of bottle aging on the lees. It comprises at least 70% reserve wines, ensuring balance and a distinctive style. The grapes are carefully selected. Chardonnay comes from the famous Grand Cru vineyards of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, known for their pronounced minerality and freshness. Pinot Noir and Meunier are grown on the fertile banks of the Marne Valley, between Épernay and Dormans, giving the wine its particular structure and complexity. For vinification, the juice from the first two pressings (Coeur de Cuvee and Cuvee) is used, guaranteeing exceptional purity and superior quality. The juice is clarified at low temperatures for 24 hours to preserve the aromatic profile and freshness. "Perpetuelle" is fermented in large oak barrels using native yeasts, without malolactic fermentation. This technique preserves the natural, refreshing acidity. The wine ages on the lees for about 15 months, gaining exceptional depth and complexity. After bottling, the Champagne matures in the cellar for at least 4 years, achieving perfect harmony before release.
About the Manufacturer
Champagne Collard-Picard draws its exclusivity from the union of two Champagne families who have owned vineyards in the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs since 1889. For the last two centuries, the secret to producing the perfect Champagne has been passed down from generation to generation. The modern Champagne Collard-Picard winery was founded in 1996 by Olivier Collard and Caroline Picard. They strive for the highest quality, with a small area of 16 hectares and 52 vineyards on the right bank of the Marne Valley, as well as in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, and Vertus in the Côte des Blancs. When growing the vines, Collard-Picard adheres to a natural approach, not using herbicides or insecticides. In recent years, their son Alexandre, who holds a Master`s degree in Wine Management, has joined the company.
