Reichsrat von Buhl Blanc de Blancs Prestige Brut

Since its founding in 1849, the Reichsrat von Buhl winery has been producing wines from the noble grape variety Riesling, grown in one of the best vineyards — Forster. Franz Peter Buhl, the founder of the estate, was able to produce exquisite wines that gained international recognition in a short time. In 1869, the wine from Reichsrat von Buhl was the official wine of the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal. Otto von Bismarck was also a great admirer of Buhl's wines. Franz's grandson, Eberhard, was the founder and president of the Association of German Winemakers, which aimed to maintain the high quality of German wines. After his death in 1921, his widow Frieda Piper von Buhl took the reins. Under her leadership, the high quality of the wines was not only maintained but also improved. After the death of childless Frieda in 1952, according to Eberhard's will, the winery passed into the ownership of his political friend Georg Enoch von und zu Guttenberg. From 1989 to 2013, the estate was leased to Japanese businessman Toyohiro Tokuoka. Since 2013, a new, ambitious company led by managing director Richard Grosche, technical director Matthieu Kaufmann, and manager Werner Sebastian has resumed the production of exquisite German wines using organic technologies.
