Interesting facts
Champagne Drappier, Brut Rose is a fresh, harmonious rosé champagne made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the estate's organic vineyards. The champagne is produced using the "saignée" method with maceration in tanks for 3 days. Fermentation is carried out at a low controlled temperature and lasts about 2 weeks. After the alcoholic fermentation is completed, malolactic fermentation begins. After bottling, the champagne is aged for 2-3 years in the winery's cellars. Brut Rosé champagne is an excellent aperitif. It also pairs harmoniously with appetizers, salmon, grilled lamb, and fruit salad with strawberries.
About the Manufacturer
Champagne Drappier is known as a producer of some of the best champagnes in the world. This high title is earned absolutely deservedly and justified by the high quality of the unique taste of Drappier champagnes. Moreover, the success of the house is annually confirmed by certificates and medals from the most authoritative competitions and high ratings from wine critics around the world. The history of Drappier winery begins in 1803 when its founder François Drappier arrived in the village of Urville, where he began managing the first vineyard of the House. Interestingly, the surname Drappier translates as "sheet" or "cloth". This is not accidental. History states that the first representatives of the family were engaged in the trade of fabrics, which is why they received such a surname. In 1930, Georges Collot, the grandfather of the current manager Michel Drappier, decided to plant the estate exclusively with Pinot Noir vines, earning him the playful nickname "Father of Pinot". Today, about 70% of the vineyards are dedicated to the Pinot Noir variety. The estate's history has seen its share of failures, such as the unprecedented frost in 1957, which destroyed 95% of the potential harvest. However, this became just a challenge that the owners of the company managed to overcome by finding a way to plant a more frost-resistant variety, Pinot Meunier. In 1968, the wife of the then-owner André — Michèle Drappier introduced the idea of producing rosé champagne. This innovation literally appealed to many champagne enthusiasts, and Drappier's rosé champagne became popular not only in its native Champagne but also far beyond its borders. For example, this wine is regularly supplied to the Élysée Palace. The cellars of the Champagne Drappier House, where the famous champagne is aged, are unique. They were built in the 12th century by Cistercian monks who appeared in Urville to establish a monastery. Today, the management of the company is in the hands of representatives of the sixth and seventh generations of the Drappier family, while their successors — young Charlene, Hugo, and Antoine — are already growing up.
