Interesting facts
Until now, Liebart-Regnier had only one bright Rosé Brut Classic—now their lineup includes the surprisingly powerful, colorful "Rubis des Grès," created using the Saignée method. This series truly represents its terroir and is distinguished by unique, harmonious, and full flavors. The Rosé Brut "Rubis des Grès" is incredibly good, even making ardent fans of white champagne quickly lose interest. The sparkling wine perfectly reflects the high quality standards of the Liebart-Regnier winery, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. The original method of production and flavor characteristics come from a single plot of land rightfully named Les Grès, as its soil consists of sandstone and sand. Located in the heart of the hills and planted with Pinot Noir, this vineyard allows for the creation of rich coral-pink champagne. Harvesting is done by hand. The grapes are then gently pressed. For the production of Saignée, the skins of the black grapes are in contact with the grape juice for several hours. During the maceration process, the juice is enriched with coloring pigments from the skins of the red grapes, as well as aromas and tannins. Malolactic fermentation is natural and spontaneous. The wine is neither filtered nor cold stabilized. Vinification occurs in steel tanks to preserve the true expression of the terroir, followed by aging in barrels. After secondary fermentation (Méthode Champenoise) in the bottle, the wine is aged on the lees for three years before disgorgement, reaching a dosage of 7 g/l. From the very first breath, it seduces with a palette of amazing aromas, featuring toasted nuances. The aftertaste is characterized by a delicate smoky mineral edge. The remarkably gentle perlage makes this wine even more enticing.
About the Manufacturer
The Champagne house Liebart-Regnier was founded by Lucien Liebart and Georgette Regnier in 1960. From the very beginning, they were independent winemakers producing a small quantity of champagne. Today, winemakers in the eighth generation manage the estate with 11 hectares of vineyards, mainly located in the communes of Vauciennes and Baslieux sous Chatillon. On 35 parcels with a predominance of limestone and clay soils, all seven permitted Champagne grape varieties are cultivated in various proportions, with the excellent Pinot Meunier setting the tone. The diversity of grape varieties combined with the terroir allows for the creation of unique single-varietal sparkling wines. Laurent Liebart has become fascinated with a unique wine homeopathy and has instilled in his daughters an interest in the lunar calendar. Non-chemical fertilizers are used for soil treatment, and work in the fields is carried out in accordance with the phases of the moon. Liebart-Regnier produces high-quality biodynamic and organic wines.
