Interesting facts
The harvest is collected at the ideal ripeness of the grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are crushed and fermented at a controlled temperature of 25 – 30 degrees Celsius. During fermentation, the winemakers pursue the main goal: to achieve maximum aromatics and structure of Terra Linda Syrah while avoiding excessive tannicity.
About the Manufacturer
Terra Linda loosely translates to beautiful soil. The Castile-La Mancha region stretches across the entire southern half of the Central Meseta of Spain. Its area is eight million hectares (80,000 square kilometers) and includes five provinces: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, and Toledo. Castile-La Mancha produces 50% of all Spanish wine production (18 million hectoliters). The relatively low land prices likely explain why many of Spain's largest wineries settled here in the 1970s and 1980s. They brought new technologies and fully utilized the continuous sunlight that bathes the plateau day after day. In terms of wine, much of Castile-La Mancha remains virtually unexplored. The autonomy has gone down in history as a mass producer of sloppy wines intended for blending, distillation, and local consumption. However, it should not be forgotten that there was also demand for it. The plains of La Mancha, located at an average altitude of about 700 m, have a typical continental climate; the icy cold winter is almost immediately replaced by the scorching heat of summer. Summer temperatures often reach 45°C, while winter temperatures can drop to -12/15°C. The terrain is quite flat with rare hills. The reddish-brown soil, formed from Miocene deposits, has a high limestone content. The area is dry year-round, as the surrounding mountains block access to moist fronts from the sea. Precipitation is low – only 300–400 mm per year, and prolonged droughts are common. This is also the main reason why over 95% of La Mancha's vineyards consist of very arid agricultural land.
