Interesting facts
Famille Cordier, Pouilly Fuisse Premier Cru "Les Vignes Blanches" AOP is an elegant dry white wine made from Chardonnay grapes. This wine is suitable for settings where presentation is less important than content. A small lunch or dinner — at home or in a restaurant without unnecessary formality, when fish, chicken, or seasonal vegetables are on the table. Vinification begins with careful pressing of whole clusters in a pneumatic press. The juice is transferred to oak barrels of over 1000 liters solely by gravity, where spontaneous fermentation occurs. Aging lasts for 12 months in old oak barrels of 350 liters on fine lees, after which the wine matures for another 8 months in stainless tanks. Bottling is done without fining and with minimal filtration, using a gravity method. The 2020 vintage was released in a quantity of 2600 bottles. The grapes are hand-harvested from a tiny plot of 0.98 hectares in the commune of Fuissé. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level, with clay-limestone and marl soils. The age of the local vines ranges from 35 to 80 years. This terroir gives the wine characteristic minerality, brightness, and precision, while the age of the vines contributes depth, density, and richness of flavor.
About the Manufacturer
Domaine Cordier is a winery founded in the vicinity of the village of Fuissé in the Mâcon region. Its history began in 1945. Over time, the estate has grown to 35 hectares. In 1987, management of the company was taken over by Christophe Cordier, who focused efforts on revealing the unique potential of each vineyard, paying special attention to the Chardonnay variety. Christophe personally oversees all stages of production, striving for perfection in every detail. In 2015, a modern gravity winery was built with a high-tech climate control and humidity regulation system. Of the 22 Premier Cru Pouilly Fuisse, four belong to Christophe Cordier's company. In 2018, the estate began implementing biodynamic viticulture methods, and in 2024 it received Demeter certification.
