Interesting facts
Selecting the best grape varieties from the Bouzy terroir allowed for the creation of this exquisite cuvée, consisting of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. The wine was vinified in oak barrels, and an exceptional aging period of 14 years was required for its creation. The wines did not undergo malolactic fermentation, allowing them to retain their natural freshness and aroma. Special attention was paid to each stage of vinification. After careful tasting, the best wines from each barrel were blended to create the Cuvée Annonciade.
About the Manufacturer
Since 1860, six generations of the Bara family have cultivated vineyards in one of the most renowned Grand Cru communes of Champagne - Bouzy. Chantal Bara, daughter of Paul Bara, the first winemaker in the family of grape growers and historian of her native commune Bouzy, also plays an important role in the life of Bouzy and the community of récoltants in general. The house is a member of the Club Trésors de Champagne, and Chantal served as its president for four years. The Bara family owns 10.5 hectares in the Grand Cru Bouzy area of the Montagne de Reims region. Grand Cru Bouzy is a historically significant region producing great wines even before they became sparkling. The slopes of this commune with limestone subsoils and southern exposure are famous for their rich-tasting and full-bodied Pinot Noir. The average age of the vines is 40 years. Paul Bara is synonymous with the Grand Cru commune of Bouzy and a symbol of the first wave of the récoltant movement, when small families began to emerge from the shadows of large négociant houses, launching their own champagne production. This estate is at the origins of the famous association of Champagne grape growers, Club Trésors de Champagne, which was established in 1971 to promote récoltant champagne. Each member of the Association produces a special cuvée Spécial Club, but it was with Paul Bara that the story of the rosé version of this wine began. The house's style is defined by Pinot Noir from a special terroir: in Bouzy Grand Cru, even in cool vintage years, it provides the ripest aromatics. However, among all producers of this commune, Paul Bara's champagne stands out for its extraordinarily elegant fruit component. It is never heavy, showcasing its class in intensity and length of finish.
