Interesting facts
"Essentiel" Brut Nature is a harmonious and balanced Champagne for true connoisseurs of French winemaking traditions. The 2012 vintage was created without any added sugar, bringing it closer to nature and its terroir. This Champagne features a rich and ripe fruit flavor with warm hints of biscuit and a subtle salinity. In the glass, the deep golden-colored wine plays with fine, elegant bubbles, creating a celebratory mood. This Champagne is made from a blend of grapes: 50% Chardonnay, 25% Meunier, and 25% Pinot Noir. The vineyards are located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and on the right bank of the Marne Valley between Épernay and Dormans. "Essentiel" Champagne is produced exclusively from the first pressing of the grapes, known as the cuvée. Vinification and aging on the lees for 15 months are carried out in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation, in accordance with traditional methods. The absence of malolactic fermentation creates a fresh wine that preserves its natural acidity. The still wine is then lightly filtered, bottled, and aged in the cellar for a minimum of 10 years. To ensure the exceptional expression of its qualities, the wine undergoes disgorgement (removal of the yeast sediment). After this process, the Champagne remains in the cellar for another 2 years. "Essentiel" Brut Nature 2012 has received numerous awards, including Gold medals at the "International Wine Challenge, 2023," "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, 2023," "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, 2022," and "International Wine Challenge, 2020," and Silver medals at the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, 2020," "International Wine Challenge, 2021," and "International Wine Challenge, 2022."
About the Manufacturer
Champagne Collard-Picard draws its exclusivity from the union of two Champagne families who have owned vineyards in the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs since 1889. For the last two centuries, the secret to producing the perfect Champagne has been passed down from generation to generation. The modern Champagne Collard-Picard winery was founded in 1996 by Olivier Collard and Caroline Picard. They strive for the highest quality, with a small area of 16 hectares and 52 vineyards on the right bank of the Marne Valley, as well as in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, and Vertus in the Côte des Blancs. When growing the vines, Collard-Picard adheres to a natural approach, not using herbicides or insecticides. In recent years, their son Alexandre, who holds a Master's degree in Wine Management, has joined the company.
