Interesting facts
The wine Domaine Jacques Prieur "Beaune Clos de la Feguine" Premier Cru is produced from Pinot Noir grapes ripening on a Premier Cru vineyard of 1.59 hectares, located on a very steep slope on the south side of the hill. The vineyard is located on the site of a former quarry, where the soil consists of gravel, limestone and clay and has ideal natural drainage. The grapes for the wine are harvested by hand in small boxes and transported for further processing. After pneumatic pressing, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation for 20 days, malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels with lees stirring. The wine is aged for 17 months.
About the Manufacturer
The history of Domaine Jacques Prieur, founded in the heart of Meursault, dates back to 1898. "You can never fully own a wine estate; you can only be a guardian of values and traditions to pass them on to future generations" — this quote is especially true for Jacques Prieur and the history of the Domaine, whose wines and family traditions are a beautiful illustration of Burgundian character. The strength of the Domaine is the unification under one name of wines from the most prestigious terroirs of Burgundy: from Montrachet to Chambertin, as well as Corton, Échezeaux and Musigny. Domaine Jacques Prieur owns vineyards in 22 appellations, including the most legendary in the Côte d'Or. It is the only Domaine in Burgundy that owns vines in each of the five prestigious vineyards: Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne and Montrachet. This impressive collection is complemented by plots in other Grand Crus — in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Thus, Domaine Jacques Prieur owns some of the brightest jewels in the Burgundian crown! Completely consisting of Grand Cru and Premier Cru (with the exception of "Clos de Mazeray" in Meursault), the Domaine produces famous white and red wines. However, even the most delightful terroir is nothing without the experience and passion of a person. From the very beginning, the Jacques Prieur family provided the best care and attention to the vineyards in order to preserve the soil and create ideal conditions for the vines. All vineyards are cultivated in accordance with the principles of organic farming. Grapes from each plot are vinified separately to preserve all unique characteristics. Today, the Domaine is managed by Jean-Pierre Labruyère and Edouard Labruyère, as well as Martin Prieur. The Domaine's winemaker is the highly respected Nadine Gublin, who received the title "Winemaker of the Year" from the "Revue du Vin de France" in 1997.
