Interesting facts
To create the red dry wine "Chateau Kirwan", grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties are used. The harvest is collected by hand from mid-September to early October. At the winery, the fruit is transferred by gravity into concrete tanks, which are ideal for extremely precise but gentle vinification. Fermentation takes place at 25 °C. The wine is aged in oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months.
About the Manufacturer
Chateau Kirwan is a winery located in France, in the Bordeaux region. Its vineyards are situated on a plateau near the Garonne River. The company owns more than 40 hectares of fertile soils, which are divided into 46 plots. Gravelly-clay soils predominate here. The gravel provides effective drainage and heat retention from the sun, while the clay stores water and supplies it to the roots of the vines. The main grape varieties grown on the Château Kirwan estate are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, as well as Petit Verdot, which accounts for only 10% of the total harvest.
