Interesting facts
The completion of the restoration of the medieval "Quadrio" castle was celebrated by Nino Negri with the creation of the wine of the same name from grapes sourced from the best sites in the Valtellina Superiore region, located at an altitude of 350-500 meters above sea level. The wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes, which locals refer to as Chiavennasca, with a small percentage of Merlot. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. Like each of the wines from the Nino Negri winery, "Quadrio" has its own secrets of production. The grape harvest is collected from the end of September and vinified using traditional methods with 10-12 days of maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature of 25-28 °C in stainless steel containers. The wine is aged for 18-20 months in French oak barrels in the "Castello Quadrio" cellar, which now belongs to Nino Negri and was built in the 15th century by Stefano Quadrio — the governor of the Valtellina region.

Nino Negri is a very old winery in Lombardy, established in 1897. The estate's vineyards, located at an altitude of 300-1000 meters above sea level, have a favorable exposure for excellent grape ripening. Today, the estate covers an area of 34 hectares, 11 hectares of which are actively used for planting young vineyards.
