Interesting facts
Valpolicella Classico DOC Speri is an exquisite dry red wine with a rich fruit bouquet and fresh, harmonious taste from the Speri company, showcasing the richness and outstanding character of the Valpolicella Classico terroir. Valpolicella Classico is a historic wine-growing area in Veneto, starting from the Lessini Mountains (foothills of the Alps) in the north and bounded by the Adige River in the south. The wine blend consists of Corvina (60%), Rondinella (30%), and Molinara (10%) grapes, grown in the company's vineyards in the municipalities of San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane, and Negrar. The vineyards are planted at an altitude of 120-350 meters above sea level on artificially created terraces made of stones called "marogne". These terraces help prevent soil erosion during rain and retain moisture to nourish the roots during dry summer months. In ancient times, these lands were a seabed, so the local soils are particularly rich in calcium and limestone deposits. Thanks to the protection of the mountains and the moderating influence of nearby Lake Garda, Valpolicella Classico enjoys a mild climate that creates favorable conditions for even grape ripening. Based on the belief that wine quality is determined by the vineyard, Speri has always worked to preserve and promote the fertility of the land, growing only local clones and preserving historical varieties that are at risk of extinction, respecting the biodiversity of the area and paying special attention to traditions and the environment. All of the company's products are certified organic.
