Interesting facts
"Lintori" is a fresh, fruity, generous, easy-drinking dry white wine made from Vermentino grapes from the Italian island of Sardinia. The name of the wine in the ancient Gallurese dialect means "Morning dew." The grapes grow at an altitude of 80-120 meters above sea level on the northwestern and eastern slopes. From harvest to the release of the wine, 9 months pass.
About the Manufacturer
The Capichera winery is located on the Italian island of Sardinia. In the early 20th century, the grandfather of the current owners acquired a plot of land in the Gallura region, near the town of Arzachena, in the north of the island. The Ranyedda family produced wine here only for their own consumption. In the 1970s, Mario and Fabrizio Ranyedda began industrial winemaking. They expanded the vineyard area and built a new modern winery to produce high-quality wines from local varieties Vermentino and Carignano. In 1981, the first wine under the Capichera brand was released. The new white wine from Vermentino was significantly different from the wines previously produced in Sardinia. The 1980 vintage had an amazing aroma of tropical fruits, a rich taste, and excellent acidity. The release of this wine marked the beginning of the modern history of the estate. In the 1980s, a new classification of wine quality was introduced in the region — DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). This required changes in production. The Ranyedda brothers implemented various innovations in their estate, underwent internships in France, and studied winemaking practices. As a result, the estate became the best in Sardinia. Starting with the release of just one white wine, Capichera has expanded its range of wines in recent years. The winery now produces five white wines from Vermentino grapes and three reds from Carignano. The annual production volume is at least 300,000 bottles. Currently, Capichera manages over 50 hectares of vineyards in the north of the island. The solid granite soils with a mixture of sandy rocks are well-suited for local varieties — Vermentino and Carignano, from which the winery produces fresh elegant wines. The company also has a small plot in the south of the island, planted with old Vermentino vines. The estate owners have focused only on indigenous varieties and have abandoned the cultivation of international varieties and their addition to the blend. Vermentino and Carignano have been grown on the island for several centuries. Vermentino was brought to Sardinia from the Iberian Peninsula in the 18th century, while Carignano arrived on the island with the Phoenicians. Both varieties have adapted excellently to the summer heat, harsh climate, and strong winds. Nowhere in the world does Vermentino acquire such quality of taste and aroma as in the Sardinian region of Gallura. For winemaking, Capichera uses its own harvest and partially grapes purchased from neighboring vineyards. In 2001, the company built a new winery equipped with the latest technology. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the fermentation process is fully computerized.
