About the Manufacturer
La Tunella was founded by Min Zorzetti. Today, the winery is managed by his sons Livio, Massimo, and Marco, as well as his wife, Gabriella. The estate's wines embody the vibrant freshness of new, creative energies. However, history, memory, and established traditions remain the cornerstones of winemaking. La Tunella is located in the far northeast of Italy, at the center of a triangle formed by Venice to the west, Austria to the north, and Slovenia to the east. Strong oenological traditions have developed in these lands. The vineyards cover 15,400 hectares of land. Of these, 60% are allocated for white grape varieties, and the remaining 40% for red varieties. Friuli Venezia Giulia is divided into eight DOC wine regions: Collio, Grave, Isonzo, Carso, Aquileia, Latisana, Annia, and Friuli Colli Orientali. The latter region is known worldwide as an area where exquisite high-quality white wines are produced. The lands of the region consist of a mixture of sandstone and marl, and the microclimate is unique and extremely favorable for grape cultivation. Here are ancient Eocene hills, terraces created by human effort, and the Julian Prealps — a mighty shield protecting the vineyards from cold winds, and pleasant, warm southern breezes coming from the Adriatic Sea. La Tunella's vineyards are concentrated in Friuli Colli Orientali and occupy 70 hectares of land. 70% of their territory is dedicated to white grape varieties, while the remaining 30% is for red. The average planting density is 4,500-5,000 vines per hectare. The yield ranges from 7.5 to 9 tons of grapes per hectare.
