Interesting facts
Try the delightful Gavi "Le Marne" wine, enchanting with its fresh fruity-floral aroma, which is imparted to the wine by selected Cortese grape berries. Cortese is a very capricious variety and even in the sunniest years retains high acidity, and it requires great attention during the winemaking process. The grapes are grown on clayey-marl soils known as "marne". To achieve the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, as well as a complex taste and delightful aroma, a special technology is used in the production of "Le Marne", where partial cold maceration precedes fermentation. Fermentation at temperatures of 16 to 18 °C and aging on the lees for 3-4 months take place in stainless steel containers. The wine can be enjoyed young, and thanks to its excellent balance, "Le Marne" can develop for many years, acquiring a softer, rounder structure.
About the Manufacturer
Winemaking is a family business for the Chiarlo family, and today Michele Chiarlo continues this tradition in its fifth generation. Michele learned not only from the older generations but also obtained a degree in enology. In 1956, Michele Chiarlo founded the Wine House and began to expand the family territories. His vineyards today cover 110 hectares — part of the land is owned, and part is leased long-term. Michele not only preserves winemaking traditions but also develops and introduces his own methods: he developed a unique sterile bottling system and changed the wine storage method. The Chiarlo vineyards practice very careful treatment of the vines, hand-harvesting of grapes, and the use of only organic fertilizers. All this results in world-renowned wines and consistently high ratings from experts. The main principle of Michele Chiarlo's House is to produce a relatively small quantity of wine, using only the best grapes for its production, and to strictly control the entire winemaking process, applying only the most modern and unique technologies. Despite the high cost of this winemaking method, Michele Chiarlo has achieved his goal: his wines, due to their highest quality, now stand alongside the most famous Italian and world wine brands.
