Interesting facts
The wine "Tres Patas" Mentrida DOP, originally made from a blend of two varieties Grenache and Syrah, was first presented in 2015 as a single-varietal wine, exclusively from the harvest of 40-year-old Grenache vines from the Sierra de San Vicente areas. The grapes underwent preliminary cold maceration and controlled fermentation. Malolactic fermentation, as well as further aging, were conducted in French oak barrels, half of which were new. The wine "Tres Patas" was aged for 8 months in these barrels.
About the Manufacturer
The young winery Canopy is a project of two friends-oenologists, Alfonso Chacon and Belamino Fernandez. They began realizing their dream of creating a fundamentally new wine in 2004 by searching for special vineyards where old Grenache vines and younger Syrah vines should grow. The Mentrida areas in Toledo fully met these parameters. This region had not been in demand for a long time, as it left winemakers with memories of its old-fashioned, coarse-grained wines. The Canopy vineyards are located at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level and feature granite and siliceous soils. They underwent careful selection to perfectly match the profile of the intended wines.
