Domaine Joliet Fixin Premier Cru Clos de La Perriere Chardonnay

This wine comes from the Clos de la Perriere site (5 ha), which has been solely owned (hence the inscription on the label - MONOPOLE) by the Joliet family since 1853, i.e., for six generations. Before that, the vineyard belonged to monks who built the estate la Perriere here in the 12th century. The estate owners, Philippe and Benigne Joliet, claim that their wines have a unique style preserved since the "monastic" times. For this, the grape harvest is carried out exclusively by hand, the wines are aged for a long time in oak barrels, and then bottled only at the estate (true "château wines"). This is the estate's only red wine, with a full production cycle of 3 years (from harvest to sale). Starting with the 2005 vintage, a micro-revolution in wine quality occurred here. To assist in the vineyard and winery, renowned Burgundy winemaker Philippe Charlopin was brought in as a consultant, allowing the owners to claim that Clos de La Perriere is now comparable in class to the Grands Crus of Burgundy! This is true "Haute Couture" from the world of wine! A revolution also occurred in price - while the 2004 vintage could be purchased for 17 euros, from 2005 it was already 70 euros! The quantity of wine produced also decreased from 23,000 bottles to 15,000 bottles.
