Interesting facts
Burgundy is historically one of the oldest benchmark terroirs for Pinot Noir wines. "Origines" Pinot Noir is a cuvée that represents the mosaic of Burgundy's terroirs with clay-limestone soils, varying exposures, and altitudes. This diversity of terroirs, combined with careful vinification and aging, allows Pinot Noir to produce aromatic, fleshy, and refined wine. The age of the vines ranges from 25 to 30 years. The grapes are hand-harvested. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled conical oak vats and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 18-20 days. 20% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, while 80% is aged in steel tanks for 10-12 months.
About the Manufacturer
Since 1350, the Bichot family has called Burgundy their home. However, it was in 1831 that Bernard Bichot founded the merchant house bearing his name in Monteli, a couple of kilometers south of Beaune. At the end of the 19th century, his grandson Albert Bichot directed the family business in a new direction and created the winery Maison Albert Bichot as we know it today. Since then, the family heritage has been passed down from father to son. The family crest, consisting of a deer and antlers, has been synonymous with the winery since its inception. Since 1996, Albéric Bichot represents the sixth generation of managers of the winery. The mission of the winery is to use the best fruits to create the best wine and the best expression of terroir. In a constant pursuit to fulfill this mission, Albert Bichot has acquired 250 acres of vineyards in the most renowned wine regions of Burgundy. In addition to this winemaking experience, Albert Bichot takes great care in sourcing grapes, applying an extremely practical approach to vinifying many of its regional and village wines, allowing them to continuously supply high-quality wines. For this grapes sourced from our partner producers, quality and close collaboration are of utmost importance. Albert Bichot owns 6 estates located in the heart of 5 great wine regions that make up Burgundy: Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Beaujolais. Each estate consists of vineyards cultivated using sustainable methods, as well as facilities, cellars, and specialized winemaking teams dedicated to the wines of this domain and region. The six estates include: 1. Domaine Long-Depaquit in Chablis; 2. Château Gris in Côte de Nuits (Nuits-Saint-Georges); 3. Domaine du Clos-Frantin in Côte de Nuits (Nuits-St.-Georges); 4. Domaine du Pavillon in Côte de Beaune (Pommard); 5. Domaine Adeli in Côte Chalonnaise (Mercurey); 6. Domaine du Rochegres in Beaujolais (Moulin-à-Vent).
