Passopisciaro Contrada C Terre Siciliane IGP 2020
The wine has a ruby-red color.
Spicy-floral, with notes of cherry, dried strawberry, cedar, spices, and a perfumed floral trail rising from the glass.
Well-balanced, rounded, full-bodied, with a silky texture, sweet notes of red fruits, herbal hints, and bright acidity that supports the sensation of juiciness. The finish is long, well-structured, with tones of licorice and nuances of violet.
The wine will be an excellent accompaniment to red meat and pork dishes, harmonizing well with risotto, pasta, hot appetizers, and aged cheeses.

Interesting facts
Passopisciaro, "Contrada C" — a magnificent red wine made from the Nerello Mascalese grape, grown in the Contrada Chiappemacine — a small area located at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level, where the Passopisciaro winery owns a 1.3-hectare plot. The harvest from this vineyard, thanks to the sandstone soil located at the boundary of lava flows, daytime breezes, and limestone subsoil, produces full-bodied and rounded wines. The cultivated Nerello Mascalese vines here are 90 years old. The harvest is done by hand. After fermentation in steel tanks for 15 days, the wine is aged for 18 months in large oak barrels. The bottling of the 2020 vintage took place on the waning moon in April 2022. The peak maturity of the vintage is expected between 2024 and 2032.
About the Manufacturer
The Passopisciaro estate was founded by the renowned winemaker Andrea Franchetti, who is also the creator of the famous winery and wine Tenuta di Trinoro. In 2000, he purchased land on the active volcano Etna at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. The estate is located in the town of Castiglione di Sicilia on the northern side of the volcano. The total area of the vineyards is 40 hectares, but the productive land is just over 15 hectares, while the remaining area is still undeveloped and consists of a landscape with afforestation and volcanic rock formations. The first harvest was collected in 2005. The main asset of the winery is the unique grape variety Nerello Mascalese. Due to the significant difference between day and night temperatures, the grapes ripen much later. This contributes to the even ripening of the berries and the accumulation of acids, which significantly enhances the aging potential of the wines. After achieving high-quality grape yields, the planting of Petit Verdot and Cesanese d’Affile varieties began. The wines produced by Passopisciaro represent a new wave in winemaking. Bright, deep, and juicy, they receive the highest ratings from wine critics.
