Interesting facts
In 1990, Carla Visconti, the wife of Flavio Fanti — the owner of the La Palazzetta winery, decided to launch her own line of wines under the name "Visconti", using the harvest from the already well-established La Palazzetta winery, founded in Castelnuovo dell’Abate in 1988. Since 2018, all wines have been certified as organic, biodynamic, and vegan. "Visconti" Brunello di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in Castelnuovo dell’Abate at an altitude of 365 meters above sea level on limestone soil rich in marble chips. The age of the vines is 35-40 years. The harvest is carefully selected and hand-picked. After fermentation with natural yeast cultures at controlled temperatures in stainless steel containers, the wine is aged for 3.5 years in French oak barrels and another 6 months in bottles after bottling.
About the Manufacturer
The La Palazzetta winery was founded by Flavio Fanti and Carla Visconti, who in 1988 began producing wine with just one hectare of land planted with Sangiovese vines. Today, their sons — Luca and Tea — continue the story, which for generations honors respect and love for the land. The company currently owns 20 hectares of vineyards and 2500 olive trees southeast of Montalcino, overlooking the magnificent Sant'Antimo Abbey. The production of Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Sant'Antimo Rosso DOC, and first cold-pressed olive oil showcases the richness of the territory and preserves what nature provides each year. Not too cold winters, hot summers, rainy and humid springs and autumns, as well as limestone stony soils give life to aromatic wines, rich in color, with pleasant acidity and tannins. The natural principles of vineyard management and winemaking were confirmed by organic certification in 2018.
