Chateau La Lagune is one of the most remarkable success stories in Bordeaux. The first mentions of Chateau La Lagune date back to the 18th century, and it became famous when it was awarded 3rd class in the 1855 classification. In the 19th century, this wine was unmatched — it received numerous awards and medals. Gastronomic guides of that time noted that even after 40 years, this wine did not lose its best qualities. During World War II, the condition of Chateau La Lagune, like many others, declined. Numerous potential buyers hesitated, unwilling to invest effort into reconstructing the winemaking production. However, in 1958, Chateau La Lagune was purchased by Georges Brun. He completely renewed the vineyard and built a winemaking facility, which is still considered one of the most modern in the Medoc. In 1962, he sold the estate to the famous Champagne Ayala house, which continued the reconstruction of La Lagune with the same zeal and passion. The most revolutionary innovation of the firm, still unmatched, was the connection of fermentation tanks with the aging cellar through a network of pipelines for transporting wine without any contact with air. The Chateau began to restore its former reputation and became one of the most beautiful in the Medoc. The winery's equipment meets the most modern technical requirements combined with Medoc tradition.
