Chateau du Tertre, Margaux AOC Grand Cru is an impressive wine created from grapes of four varieties with vines older than 35 years. The wine was aged in traditional oak barrels (45% new) for 17 months. Flexible, beautifully structured "Chateau du Tertre" represents an excellent example of traditional Bordeaux, and the 2017 vintage will age beautifully for 15-20 years. On the wine label, you can see the Chateau's coat of arms and a stylized image of the castle surrounded by vineyards. The early and cool 2017 season was not ideal for red grape varieties in Bordeaux, but it was close to perfect for whites. The combination of cool days and dry weather created excellent conditions for producing bright, fresh, refreshing wines with character and style. The harvest was collected from September 14 to October 2.
About the Manufacturer
Chateau du Tertre is located in the southwestern part of the Margaux appellation, on a large gravel plateau, 20 meters above sea level. Although the estate was officially founded in the 18th century, it has a much older history and once belonged to the d'Arsac family — one of the oldest families in Medoc, whose name appears in documents from 1143. Later, this Chateau belonged to the influential Marquis de Segur, who owned Lafite, Latour, and Calon-Segur. The revival of the estate can be considered to have begun in 1997 when the estate was purchased by Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma — owner of the neighboring Chateau Giscours. Eric renovated both the estate and the winery. The joint efforts of the new owner and the estate's oenologists significantly improved the quality of the estate's wines, giving them greater complexity and refinement.
