Matsu Family El Recio

"El Recio" is a magnificent wine from the Spanish estate Matsu, crafted from Tempranillo grapes harvested from the oldest vineyards in the Toro region. The 90-year-old vines are cultivated using biodynamic methods, which have been revered and upheld by three generations of winemakers. The wine boasts an intense fruity aroma, luxurious flavor, and excellent "price-quality" ratio. The Tempranillo grapes for this wine are handpicked during the first fifteen days of October and transported to the winery in small boxes. The vineyards are located in the Toro region, named after the medieval town of the same name, which has preserved its unique culture and picturesque architectural heritage to this day. Toro wines are referred to as "black gold" due to their powerful, dark color that nearly approaches black. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks for three weeks. Following this, the must undergoes malolactic fermentation in second-use barrels made of French and Eastern European oak and is aged in them for 14 months. To allow enthusiasts to fully appreciate the wine's natural characteristics, it is neither filtered nor clarified before bottling. The label of "El Recio" features a portrait of the father of the winery's owner. The winery's collection also includes wines with images of the grandson and grandfather, symbolizing youth and wisdom. Each photograph of the winemaking men from three different generations conveys the unique character of the specific drink.
