About the Manufacturer

In 1785, a young German from Westphalia named Florens-Louis Heidsieck founded the trading company Heidsieck & Co. Initially, the firm dealt in the sale of wool and German wines, but soon switched to trading exclusively in wines from Champagne. In 1818, the trading house became the official supplier of champagne wines to the court of the German Emperor and the Russian Tsar. In 1828, Florens-Louis Heidsieck died, and the reins of the thriving company passed to three young heirs: Louis-Henri Walbaum, Frédéric-Auguste Delius, and Christian Heidsieck. In 1834, the three nephews decided to go their separate ways due to a series of disagreements. Thus, Louis-Henri Walbaum continued to manage the business, taking his brother-in-law, Auguste Heidsieck, as his assistant. In 1860, Louis-Henri Walbaum and Auguste Heidsieck established a joint trademark called “Monopole.” A century after its founding, the Heidsieck & Co trading house experienced a real boom. In 1884, the company sold 952,000 bottles of champagne in the UK, and in 1912 — over 400,000 bottles in Russia. By the early 20th century, the company became one of the leaders in the global champagne market, ranking second (the first being Moet & Chandon). In November 1996, the Heidsieck & Co brand was acquired by the Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group, one of the leading producers and traders of champagne. Pommery — a champagne production company founded in 1836. In 1857, the house was led by Madame Louise, the widow of Mr. Pommery. She immediately captivated the world with her business acumen, foresight, and significant contribution to the development of French champagne. In 1874, the first champagne of the "Brut" category was released. The magnificent Pommery estate is located on a hill in the center of Reims. Beneath it lies a system of mines that served as a quarry in Gallo-Roman times. By connecting them with tunnels, the company obtained cellars spanning 18 km with ideal conditions for storing and aging champagne. In 2002, the Pommery house was purchased by Vranken Monopole, becoming the second largest champagne producer in France. Today, the company's products are known in over 100 countries worldwide. Many prestigious European competitions and events cannot do without cooperation with Vranken-Pommery Monopole. The love for art and impeccable style of Madame Pommery has been inherited by today's owners — the company was the first to start producing champagne in elegant bags from Christian Dior and Givenchy. The estate hosts social receptions and festivals, while the cellars feature contemporary art exhibitions.
