Interesting facts
Experts and critics consider Château Beaumont to be one of the main assets of the Haut-Médoc region. The wines of Chateau Beaumont have a supple character, a feminine silky structure; the tannins are ripe and soft — all this makes the wines of Château Beaumont full of charm and elegance. The estate also produces "second" wines — Chateau d'Arvigny and Tours de Beaumont. The vineyards of Château Beaumont are located in Cussac, at the highest point. The vineyard soils are composed of Garonne gravel. The average age of the vines is 20 years. The wine "Chateau Beaumont" has a rich color, a rich aroma with notes of blackcurrant liqueur, plum and graphite. The taste of the wine is perfectly balanced, a good tannic structure indicates the maturity of the wine. The wine's aging potential is 5-15 years, but it can be drunk now.
About the Manufacturer
Château Beaumont is located directly at the entrance to the village of Cussac. It is difficult to trace its early history, as all archives were lost during the French Revolution. It is known that wines have been produced in the Cussac area since the 10th century, although Beaumont only became a wine estate in the 19th century. The name most likely comes from the surname of Louis de Beaumont, one of the eight military judges who, in the 15th century, sentenced a certain Pierre de Montferrand to death. De Montferrand was the lord of Cussac during the Hundred Years' War and went over to the English side — it is possible that the land of the traitor was taken by one of his judges. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the owner of the estate was a certain Jean Germain, and under his leadership Château Beaumont flourished. He was followed by a succession of new owners, hard times, and a reduction in the area of vineyards, etc. Currently, the estate belongs to the GMF group — Grands Millesimes de France. In 1997, Etienne Priou became the manager of the estate, and with his arrival, the wine became better and better.
