Interesting facts
The name "Chateau Croix-Mouton" was first used only after 2004; before that, for 150 years, it was known as Chateau Mouton. The wine "Chateau Croix Mouton" is the work of winemaker Jean-Philippe Janoueix, called by wine critic Robert Parker "young, creative and very talented". The wine is created from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes grown west of Saint-Émilion on the right bank of Bordeaux. The strictest selection prevents unripe grapes from entering the wine production, and aging in wooden barrels preserves the rich color and fills the taste of the wine with subtle oak notes. "Chateau Croix-Mouton" is ready to reveal its potential for at least 8 years.
About the Manufacturer
Jean-Philippe Janoueix bought the Croix-Mouton estate in 1997. Château Croix-Mouton is located on the banks of the Dordogne River, in the commune of Lugon, on the clay soils of the Île de Carni. The Château's vineyard covers 70 hectares. It mainly grows the Merlot variety. The clay-silty soil of the vineyard allows the creation of beautiful, very flattering wines, accessible already at a young age. A special feature of the Château Croix-Mouton label is that the letter "M" changes every year — this is a way to denote the vintage with a different color and shape, because every year has its own individuality.
