About the Manufacturer
The British company Boutinot, founded in 1980, is one of the leading global distributors of quality wines. The company's portfolio includes over 1400 wines, with an annual sales volume of 44 million bottles. The founder of the company is Paul Boutinot, the son of a successful English restaurateur, who inherited his father's passion for good food and fine wines. The instability of the quality of wines supplied to his father's restaurant prompted Paul to travel to France in search of a quality supplier of affordable wines. After some time, restaurateurs from the northwest of England began asking Paul for help in finding suppliers, which led him to establish his own company. To ensure the quality of the wines supplied and control the entire production process, Paul created his own wineries. One of the first was established in 1989 in the Beaujolais region, and in 1993 a winery was opened in South Africa. Boutinot's pride is the Rhône wines, which have been completely recreated using organic winemaking practices from past centuries. The entire harvest is hand-picked at its peak ripeness. Whole-cluster fermentation and strict yield limitations significantly differentiate the estate's wines from those of many other Rhône producers, who tend to prioritize quantity over quality. Fermentation occurs in open tanks, with manual punch-downs, and pressing takes place in ancient basket presses, typically used for pressing olives. Only natural wild yeasts and 600-liter barrels are used during fermentation. For single-varietal wines, the finest barrels are selected, which reduces the production volume of these wines. All this allows for the creation of delicate and elegant wines with beautifully integrated oak nuances.
