About the Manufacturer
The history of Famille Perrin dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when the medieval estate of Beaucastel passed into the ownership of Pierre Perrin — a scientist who achieved outstanding results in winemaking. His work was continued by Jacques Perrin — an advocate and innovator of organic methods of vineyard cultivation. The company is now managed by his sons — François and Jean-Pierre. Favorable weather conditions, exceptional soils, organic methods of vine cultivation — all these factors allow harvesting high-quality grapes for the production of Grand Cru wines. The climatic conditions are characterized by early spring with little precipitation, cold northern winds from the south of France, protecting the crop from the scorching sun, and a significant difference between day and night temperatures. The vineyards of Perrin et Fils have one of the best terroirs in the Southern Rhône. The grapes grow on stony, loose and porous soils, thanks to which the vine develops a powerful root system. The total area of the vineyards is 130 hectares, 75 hectares of which are located in the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation (Château de Beaucastel) and 25 hectares in Côte-du-Rhône (Coudoulet de Beaucastel). Since 1964, only organic methods have been used in viticulture, without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. About 13 grape varieties are grown in the vineyards, including Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah, Counoise, Roussanne, Vaccarèse and Bourboulenc. The company's wines are completely natural, produced according to all the laws of biodynamics.
