La Spinetta Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina

La Spinetta winery was founded in 1977 by Giuseppe and Lidia Rivetti, but its creation has deeper roots connected to the Rivetti family. The grandfather of the current owners — Giovanni Rivetti — was forced to leave his home during the difficult times for Italy in the 1890s. He ended up in Argentina, hoping to get rich, return home, and buy a winery. Unfortunately, he was never destined to return to Piedmont and become a winemaker... His son and grandchildren fulfilled his dream. The Rivetti family's vineyard area is 165 hectares, of which 100 hectares are located directly in Piedmont, and 65 hectares were recently acquired in Tuscany. The name La Spinetta (The Hilltop) is given after the place where the Rivetti family built their very first winery in 1977. The main principle of La Spinetta winery is that only local grape varieties are used for winemaking: Piedmont is famous for its red grape varieties, including Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, and Nebbiolo. Our wines are typical of Piedmont, reflecting the character of the land where the grapes grow. Our philosophy is a return to our historical roots, to our land, away from the globalization of taste. La Spinetta estate is one of the best wineries in Italy, as evidenced by the ratings and awards from renowned wine critics and experts. The estate's wines are consistently awarded prestigious Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso, and in 2001, La Spinetta was awarded the title of Winery of the Year.
