Interesting facts
The red dry organic wine "Bellamarsilia" is made from Sangiovese grapes grown organically in two areas in southern Maremma. The vineyards in the village of Baccinello are located at an altitude of 30 meters above sea level. The soils are of alluvial origin, consisting mainly of clay and limestone, containing a large amount of gravel. The plots with sandy-silty soils in the locality of Alberese are at sea level. The grapes are hand-harvested into small boxes. Alcoholic fermentation on the skins lasts about two weeks. Both fermentation and aging of the wine take place in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This promotes maximum extraction of pigments and polyphenols, ensuring a bright color and wonderful berry aroma of the future wine. Before sale, the wine is aged in bottles for several months. Robert Parker recommends consuming the 2020 vintage between 2021 and 2024.
About the Manufacturer
The history of Poggio Argentiera winery began in 1997 with the purchase of the Adua farm, founded in the early 20th century when the swamps of Maremma were drained. At that time, the farm had about 6 hectares of vineyards, from which they began producing Morellino di Scansano wine while simultaneously building new cellars. In 2001, the estate expanded by acquiring another farm located in the village of Baccinello, in the hilly area of Scansano. New vineyards were added to the existing, older, and prestigious ones, and today the company has 21 hectares of land in Morellino di Scansano. The philosophy of Poggio Argentiera winery lies in the synergy of meticulous work by winemakers with a respectful attitude towards nature. Only unwavering attention to the vine and the land that gives birth to it can ensure the emergence of high-class wines. The environment is inseparable from the vines and soil. Therefore, in 2009, the company's management approved the decision to switch to organic farming and winemaking principles. Today, the organic origin of the winery's products is confirmed by the relevant certifications.
