Domaine de l`Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Clos-des-Forets-Saint-Georges AOC 2022

The history of Domaine de L’Arlot took a new turn when Jean-Pierre de Sme became its manager. Being an experimenter by nature, he undertook a series of actions that changed the estate's image. According to the authoritative French wine guide Le Guide Hachette des Vins, the highlight of the estate is the creation of white wines from Nuits-Saint-Georges with the addition of 4% Pinot Beurot, the Burgundy name for the Pinot Gris grape. Currently, 14 hectares of Domaine de L`Arlot's vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir, from which red wine is produced, and only 5% of the total land is allocated for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, from which white varietal wines are made. Since 2002, Domaine de L’Arlot has practiced exclusively organic farming. The grapes are traditionally hand-harvested. The small town of Nuits-Saint-Georges is a trading center of the Côte de Nuits wine region. Many large wine merchants, such as Joseph Faiveley and Moillard, operate here. In Nuits-Saint-Georges and the neighboring Prémices, there are no Grand Cru vineyards, but there are many Premier Cru, some of whose wines nearly reach Grand Cru levels, including "Clos de L’Arlot". All these wines are quite light, with a balanced taste, a sweet note of oak, and an aroma with a hint of smoke.
