Interesting facts
The elegant, well-balanced, and beautifully structured wine "Castelgiocondo" Brunello di Montalcino is produced from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes, whose quality, thanks to the ideally situated vineyards, well-drained soils, and southwest exposure, is the best expression of this ancient grape variety. Sangiovese is harvested exclusively by hand in the first week of October. The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 12 days, after which the wine is aged in French barriques and Slavonian oak barrels for a long 4 years. After bottling, the wine ages for another 4 months in the winery's cellars. Castelgiocondo is one of the largest estates of the Marchesi de Frescobaldi. Due to its favorable location and significant length of vineyards, Castelgiocondo is at the forefront of winemaking: both in terms of new grape growing technologies and the equipment used.
About the Manufacturer
Winemaking is nothing but communication in the language of nature, and the Frescobaldi winemaking family masters this language perfectly. For 700 years, the family has been cultivating grapes in the heart of Tuscany, and their name is firmly linked to the history of art, culture, and trade in this region. The Frescobaldi have always successfully combined rich experience with innovations. In the 14th century, they supplied their wines to the English crown and the courts of many European countries. Since the second half of the 20th century, the Frescobaldi have been key players in the development of Tuscan winemaking. They were among the first to plant grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, and Pinot, and began using new methods in wine production. During this time, the Frescobaldi family business experienced significant growth. In 1989, they acquired the largest estate in the Brunello region, and in 1995, they signed an agreement with a Californian winery for a joint venture in Tuscany to produce and distribute high-quality Tuscan wines in the global market. Today, the Frescobaldi family owns nine estates located in the best areas of Tuscany. Here, elite wines are created that are exported to over 60 countries worldwide.
