Interesting facts

"Dagromis" Barolo is a wine of great individuality, where power meets elegance, and energy meets warmth. "Dagromis" is a wine for the patient. Intended for long-term aging — at least 25 years, it will fully reveal itself after several years of additional aging. The wine is named in honor of the Gromis family, who owned vineyards in the La Morra area in the 19th century. Today, this land is owned by the Gaja family and, together with vineyards in Serralunga, supplies grapes for the production of "Dagromis". After harvesting, the berries undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks: first at a temperature of 28 °C for a week, then at a temperature of 18 °C for another 2 weeks. After that, the young wine is poured into barriques and aged for 12 months, then the wine is placed in large oak barrels for another 12 months.

About the Manufacturer

The Gaja brand was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, the great-grandfather of the current owner Angelo Gaja, and has been owned by the Gaja family for five generations. Today, Gaja Winery owns vineyards totaling 250 hectares, located in the provinces of Tuscany and Piedmont. Angelo Gaja began working in the family business in 1961 after completing his education at the Enological Institute of Alba and the University of Montpellier (later obtaining a degree in economics from the University of Turin). Angelo has visited France several times and, inspired by modern and traditional techniques of French winemakers, began applying the acquired experience in the production of his own wines. His magnetism, charm, and poetic reflections on the nature of wine make Angelo Gaja one of the most respected and beloved figures in the Italian wine industry. In 2011, "Wine Spectator" named Angelo Gaja one of the best winemakers in the history of Piedmont and Tuscany.
