Interesting facts
"Majorum" is a unique white wine produced only in the best harvest years. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this wine grow on limestone-flint soils in Saint-Andelain and Kimmeridgian marls in Pouilly-sur-Loire. The age of the vines is 45 years. The grapes are hand-picked in small boxes of 10-12 kg. At the winery, the berries undergo delicate pressing, partial maceration at a sufficiently low temperature, and fermentation at 18-20 °C in large oak barrels and barriques, lasting from one to two months. This helps preserve the unique aroma and juicy flavor of the grapes. The wine is aged on fine lees in oak barrels of various sizes for 16-18 months. "Majorum" can be stored in cellars for 15 to 20 years, possessing remarkable vitality even at a young age. Since 2017, the wine has been presented in a more authentic style: it is sealed with wax and signed by hand, just as an artist signs their work. Decanting is recommended before consumption.
About the Manufacturer
French winemaker Michel Redde, born in 1930, chose the craft of winemaking not by chance. He simply followed in the footsteps of his ancestors, who continued the work that was previously a privilege of monks — as indicated by the name of the vineyards "La Moynerie", now owned by the Redde family. In the early 1950s, thanks to perseverance and hard work, Michel and his wife Simona were able to expand the family estate, increasing the area of the vineyards. In 1977, their son Thierry Redde joined his parents, bringing new ideas and thoughts into the technological process, and 20 years later, in 1997, he took full control of the estate. Today, the estate covers almost 40 hectares, located in the very heart of the Pouilly-sur-Loire region. The "La Moynerie" vineyards lie on gentle slopes overlooking the Loire River. The local limestone-clay soils produce rich, harmonious, and elegant wines with spicy tones due to the presence of flint in the soil, as well as roundness and flavor persistence, thanks to the limestone soils.
