Interesting facts
The Les Fuées plot is located in the northern part of the village, just after Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, producing strong yet elegant Pinot Noir-based wines that tend to have spicy aromas rather than fruity ones. The vineyard's name refers to the work traditionally performed in the vineyard: Fuée is a traditional Burgundy term for an area that a person could cultivate with a hoe in one day.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the Faiveley house dates back to 1825, when Pierre Faiveley founded the company now known as Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic example of a négociant business. Today, Domaine Faiveley is one of the best producers of exquisite and elegant wines from Burgundy. The estate of Domaine Faiveley is located in the heart of Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune, in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Historically based in Côte de Nuits, the Faiveley family has continuously expanded its estate by purchasing only the best vineyard plots in the most prestigious appellations of Burgundy. Today, Faiveley is the largest landowner in Burgundy, owning 120 hectares of vineyards, including in Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey, and other areas. Domaine Faiveley owns more than 10 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards and about 25 hectares of Premier Cru, including some plots that are exclusively owned by the family — these are the monopolies Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos des Issarts", Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Cortons Faiveley", and Beaune 1er Cru "Clos de l`Ecu". The Faiveley vineyards have an outstanding terroir. Here, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay have found a new expression and manifested themselves in complex, elegant aromas. Domaine Faiveley has always paid special attention to vineyard work. Throughout the year, the vineyards are carefully and meticulously cultivated. Every stage is important, starting from selecting the appropriate soil for the vines. Pruning branches in winter, cutting excess shoots in spring, and green harvesting in summer are key stages for achieving excellent ripeness and obtaining high-quality grapes.
