Interesting facts
"Il Bruciato" is one of the bright wines in the Tenuta Guado Al Tasso line, made from grape varieties non-traditional for Tuscany—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The style of "Il Bruciato" resembles the famous red wines of Bordeaux, not only with its excellent structure and multi-layered fruity-spicy aroma but also with its ability to develop in the bottle for a long time. The grapes for "Il Bruciato" are harvested in the Tenuta Guado Al Tasso vineyards during September. At the winery, the fruits are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation and maceration for 10-15 days take place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28-30 °С. Part of the must from Merlot and Syrah is fermented at lower temperatures to better preserve the varietal aromas. Malolactic fermentation is carried out partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in barriques and is completed by the end of the year for all varieties. After blending, the wine is aged in oak barrels.
About the Manufacturer
Once upon a time, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso estate was part of the feudal lands and occupied about 4,000 hectares, stretching for 7 km along the coastline. These lands belonged to the Gherardesca family, known in this region for over 1200 years. In the 1930s, the land was inherited by Carlotta Gherardesca Antinori, the mother of Piero Antinori. On the territory of Tenuta Guado al Tasso, 86 watchtowers have also been preserved, built 1000 years ago to protect these lands from the invasion of Saracens from the African coast. The first Vermentino harvest was gathered at Tenuta Guado al Tasso in 1996. Today, several different plots with Vermentino grapes are planted here. For the production of wine, the harvest from each vineyard is harvested and vinified separately. This allows creating a wine with a large number of different flavor nuances, as a result of the influence of both the terroir of individual vineyards and the degree of grape ripeness during the harvest. At the winery, the berries are destemmed, partially crushed, and immediately gently pressed. The resulting juice is cooled for a day to facilitate natural decantation. The clear juice is placed in stainless steel tanks, where fermentation takes place at a temperature not exceeding 16°C. About a month after fermentation, each batch of wine is tasted and carefully evaluated, and the selected options are assembled into the final version.
