Interesting facts
Single Vineyard "Taylors Pass" is a dry white wine crafted by the winemakers of "Villa Maria" from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in the "Taylors Pass" vineyard in Marlborough. The vineyard is located on the north bank of the winding Awatere River. The soil is composed of silt and stony gravel. This terroir allows for the production of ripe grapes with rich fruitiness. The harvest is machine-picked at night to preserve the integrity and purity of the fruit. The grapes are crushed and left in contact with the skins for some time. The berries are then pressed, and the resulting juice is placed in stainless steel tanks, where a long fermentation takes place at low temperatures. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the lees for three months to mature. The wine undergoes light clarification and filtration before bottling.
About the Manufacturer
"Villa Maria" is one of the largest wineries in New Zealand, with vineyards spread across the best "wine" territories of the country: Marlborough, Auckland, Hawke's Bay, and Gisborne. The winery was founded in 1961 by George Fistonich, who remains the owner and director of the estate to this day. "Villa Maria" is the undisputed leader in the production of New Zealand wines. The cornerstone of the winery's success is undoubtedly a thorough approach to production—the entire process, from growing and selecting grapes to vinification itself, is carefully controlled and constantly improved. As a result, we have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful, refreshing, and elegant wines of "Villa Maria."
