Interesting facts
"Writers Tears" Double Oak is an exclusive Irish whiskey crafted using two types of wood and two styles of premium Irish whiskey (Single Pot Still and Single Malt Irish). After triple distillation, the whiskey is aged in bourbon barrels made from American oak from Kentucky and barrels made from French oak from the Cognac region in France. The whiskey is not subjected to cold filtration and is bottled at a strength of 46%. The production of this whiskey was made possible through close collaboration between the Walsh family from County Carlow, Ireland, and the Legare family from the Cognac region of France. "Writers Tears" Double Oak has won numerous awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the "International Spirits Challenge, 2019" and a Gold Medal at the "World Spirits Competition, 2020."
About the Manufacturer
Walsh Whiskey was founded in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, who currently hold 80% of the shares. Rosemary was inspired to create the company during a trip with her husband to France. They were staying at a ski resort and hosted many guests in their chalet daily. Guests were treated to Irish coffee (a cocktail made of hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and sugar) after each meal. Preparing 20-30 servings of their favorite drink was enjoyable but also exhausting for the hospitable hostess. The Walshes decided there had to be a better solution to enjoy a great drink without excessive effort and inefficient time expenditure. Thus, Hot Irishman Limited was born. Initially, the company intended to produce only Irish Cream, and in 2001, "Irishman" Irish Cream was released. The "Writers Tears" brand was created in 2009 as a separate trademark for a network of liquor boutiques and immediately attracted the attention of whiskey enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. The branching into a separate category was a bold step, moving blended whiskey from a traditional niche into the realm of avant-garde and unconventional solutions in the world of whiskey. The name of the whiskey translates to "Writers' Tears" — a poetic and multifaceted name, not devoid of humor. Anyone who has dabbled in writing knows how difficult it can be to craft lines. The producer even listed the "donors of tears" — pearls of Irish literature, one of the oldest in the world. Thus, the magnificent whiskey "Writers Tears" is composed of the tears of the following literary geniuses — Brendan Behan, John O'Brien, George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce, John Millington Synge, Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Patrick Kavanagh, Samuel Beckett, Seamus Heaney, Sean O'Casey, and William Butler Yeats. Great names. People with complex destinies and recognized talent. How can one resist trying such a unique whiskey?
