Interesting facts
Chateau Branaire-Ducru is an impressive, elegant wine with a velvety structure and soft taste. Rich and sensual, "Chateau Branaire-Ducru" has excellent aging potential. However, if you wish to drink it soon, the wine must be decanted to fully reveal all the charming nuances of taste and aroma. "Chateau Branaire-Ducru" is made from four classic Bordeaux grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, with an average vine age of 40 years, and some of them have already celebrated their centenary. Each variety is hand-harvested at peak ripeness and vinified separately. Only the juice from the first pressing is used for wine production. "Chateau Branaire-Ducru" is aged for 16 to 22 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are renewed annually.
About the Manufacturer
The origins of the vineyards of Chateau Branaire-Ducru trace back to the 17th century when they were part of the estate of Chateau Beychevelle, whose owner died in 1642, leaving many unpaid debts. To settle the debts, the chateau and its lands were sold. The castle and the attached territory were divided among new owners. Among them was Jean Baptiste Bran, who acquired part of the land in 1680, founding the estate of Chateau Branaire-Ducru. Today, the estate owns more than 60 hectares of beautiful old vineyards, which are in excellent condition. The soil of the vineyards is mainly gravel, which gives the estate's wines a magnificent tannic foundation, allowing the wines to develop over decades. The biodynamic features of vine cultivation are also significant: the grass between the vines is not destroyed by pesticides but grows freely. This method helps to naturally limit yield, protects the grapes from drought, and allows for the production of environmentally friendly wines.
