Interesting facts

The wine Chateau Quinault L`Enclos shows a classic, refined style of Saint-Émilion. To some experts, the wine's aroma seems thoughtful and slightly conservative, but no one disputes its richness, intensity and classic luxury. The taste — balanced, fresh, refined — is called stylish and more elegant rather than intense. The grapes for the wine are harvested by hand when the berries reach ideal ripeness and are carefully sorted twice: directly in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation is carried out in neutral tanks, and malolactic fermentation in wooden tanks. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, about 50% of which are new, for 18 months. Like previous vintages, the 2015 wine has good potential and will be at its peak over the next 10-15 years.

About the Manufacturer

Chateau Quinault L`Enclos is located in the very center of the Libourne region, on the right bank of the Dordogne River. This area includes several communes, the most famous of which are Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. A special feature of the local wines is the predominance of Merlot in the blend, whereas for the wines of the Médoc and Graves, Cabernet Sauvignon is the dominant variety. Chateau Quinault LEnclos owns 20 hectares of vineyards near the Dordogne. Their location is distinguished by a special microclimate and very favorable soil, conducive to the production of high-quality grapes and wines. The vineyards are dominated by Merlot (83%), with the rest divided between Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The average age of the vines is 45 years, but there are also the oldest in the region, planted in 1934. These old vines constitute a very interesting heritage and make it possible to obtain complex, multifaceted wines. For a long time, the owner of the Château was Alain Raynaud, who did a great deal to preserve the terroir and promote the wines of Libourne. In 2008, the peculiarities of the global economy forced Raynaud to sell the Château to Baron Frère and Bernard Arnault — the Chairman of the LVMH Group. A team of winegrowers and winemakers from Chateau Cheval Blanc, led by the famous Pierre Lurton, was brought in as service personnel, surrounding the vineyards of Chateau Quinault L`Enclos with the most careful attention. Biological methods of farming were introduced in the vineyards, and vinification was aimed at a precise and elegant expression of fruit and the preservation of soft tannins that delight the senses. The wines of the Château, highly rated by critics, have become even more qualitative, deep and consistent.
