Chateau Le Crock is an outstanding, promising vintage with its own style and a very deep, dense taste. The wine belongs to the Cru Bourgeois category. Its blend consists of four of the best grape varieties in France — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, grown on the vineyards of the Saint-Estèphe commune, which are located around the vineyards of Château Cos d'Estournel and Château Montrose. The soil consists of a layer of gravel and clay; this terroir gives the wine power and good tannic structure, which distinguishes this wine from the rest. The average age of the vines is 40 years. After harvesting, the berries underwent double selection in the vineyards and at the winery. Vinification was carried out at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months (25% new).
About the Manufacturer
The owners of Château Le Crock are the Couvalier wine-growing family, who also own the famous estate Chateau Leoville Poyferre. The winery produces magnificent, refined wines with a subtle, very delicate aroma and a rich, full taste with strong tannins, which soften as the wine matures. Since 1995, the winemakers of the estate have been advised by the famous winemaker Michel Rolland, thanks to whom the wines have greatly improved in terms of harmony and balance. The fruit from the best and older vines goes into the wine "Chateau Le Crock", while the rest of the grapes go into the production of "Chateau La Croix Saint-Estaphe" — the estate's second wine. Thanks to the great responsibility and care with which wine production is treated here, in 1992 Chateau Le Crock won the "Cru Bourgeois" cup.
