The red dry French wine "Les Griffons de Pichon Baron" is suitable both for immediate consumption and for storage under proper conditions for more than 20 years.
About the Manufacturer
The majestic and picturesque Château Pichon Baron, built in 1861 by order of Raoul de Pichon-Longueville, belonged to the Pichon Longueville family until the 1920s. Then its owners changed, but a new life truly began after 1987, when the castle was acquired by the insurance company AXA, which also owns Château Suduiraut, Petit Village and Château Pibran. The new owners completely restored the castle itself and invited Jean-Michel Cazes from Château Lynch-Bages to oversee the production process and the state of the vineyards. Huge funds were invested in the construction of a modern wine cellar and a new bottling line. Jean-Michel Cazes did a great deal to improve the quality of the wines produced. Harvest times were changed, berry selection quality was improved, the percentage of new oak barrels was increased, and the production of a second wine brand was started. The vineyards of Château Pichon Baron cover 73 hectares of typical gravel soils, where 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot are planted. Since 2017, the estate has been managed by Aymeric Hervy.
